As a fan of fairy tales and bright make-up Doe Deere sought to create a line of cosmetics to bring these colors to life. The “Unicorn Queen” of colors is one of the first successful female Entrepreneurs to launch a make-up company online in 2008. This was pioneer at the time since there weren’t many online cosmetic companies. Doe Deere dedicates her time to creating boldly colorful and cruelty-free cosmetics.
For seven years Doe Deere has created her own custom hair colors that she would later add to the Lime Crime’s Unicorn Hair dye collection. Doe’s natural hair color is red, but she has had every color of the rainbow spectrum for her hair color. She is mostly known, however, for her magenta hue which is featured on Lime Crime as the Unicorn Hair dye known as Pony.
Doe Deere was born June 1981 in Izhevsk, Russia under the name Xenia Vorotova. She moved to the US at the age of seventeen and speaks both Russian and English. She went to study fashion at the New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology.
She lives in a two-story Victorian style house in Los Angeles with her husband Mark Dumbleton and their two cats. Mark and Doe have known each other for nearly twenty years, and he helped her by co-founding her cosmetic company Lime Crime.
Back in the days of Myspace, she was in a “fairy tale rock band” called Sky Salt. She later went on to start a solo career in music in 2008. Before she started the beauty brand Lime Crime she used to sell DIY clothing on Ebay under the same name. She decided to create make-up to go along with her clothing line which was what started Lime Crime.
She is known predominately for her controversial life in the beauty industry as the founder of Lime Crime. It is believed that her connection to the brand is the number one cause for Lime Crime’s 10-year infamy and its success mainstream. Despite all her controversial moments she has struggled through to bring people a splash of color with her love of fairy tales and makeup.
