Betsy Devos has a deep passion for education. It has been apparent from the very beginning. She wanted what was best for her own children, but she also took the time to look beyond them at some of the hardships experienced by people around her in the community when it came to their children’s education. It inspired within her a desire to fight for them. She saw a group of the population that felt as though they did not have a voice and she went to bat for them. She fought hard and soon there was a growing private school system in Michigan, where she is from. The existence of the system in general is not the amazing part, but the fact that she also found ways to expand school voucher and scholarship programs to include individuals from low-income areas.
She wasn’t trying to improve education standards for just one section of the population, she was looking for a way to give parents more of a role in picking the type of education that they wanted their children to have access to. She also waited to create an air of equality. This is probably one of the reasons why she was selected to be the Secretary of Education. Her interview with Philanthropy Roundtable gave people the impression that she truly cared. She had gone through all the options that were available to people of these populations and looked for ways to make those options expand for them. She became very active in her advocacy for this group.
This vocational habit has become a cornerstone of her personality at this level. It is true that she does want these private institutions to grow but her motivations behind that growth are complicated. She sees within them a chance for people of underprivileged communities to have access to a standard of education unavailable to their predecessors. She sees a way of closing gaps towards any quality and allowing students of various backgrounds into more private institutions. She has also put in a lot of effort towards a reward system that would allow high achieving students to have more options when it comes to enrollment in these institutions. There are so many reasons why private education is important to the American public right now. But the divorce is just looking for individuals that are willing to listen to those benefits and engage in a method that would allow a healthy balance for both that system in the public system with a component of choice incorporated into it.

When it comes to building a classroom environment using edtech apps, 2017 showed some rebound in investments in that technology and one app that’s been solid is ClassDojo. What apps need to be successful in edtech is not simply having the fancy overlay or the “wow” factor, but the ability to address issues that teachers and students need solved. That’s what ClassDojo has done since its founding and is committed to keep doing with every new feature added. Right now it’s on its way to delivering additional premium content for teachers and parents who want more.
ClassDojo is the creation of Sam Chaudhary and Liam Don, two entrepreneurs who began the idea while they were graduating college. They went to a teacher’s convention to ask the instructors what it was they would like to see put on an app that could make learning easier for students. The app began as a little way to give students rewards when their behavior was good while at the same time spreading the word to parents about their child’s day at school. Soon, Chaudhary and Don realized a lot could be done with this app to make preparing for class easier and to increase parent-teacher communication. They started building it into more of a Facebook kind of app, but they made sure to put increased security features in it to protect user privacy.
In addition to the features on the app itself, ClassDojo includes several video series on student learning that show how you have to find new ways to learn difficult subjects. The videos in the first part of this series are free, but the rest could be a part of paid content that Chaudhary and Don are working on. The app itself is completely free to download and use and doesn’t even need a school administrator to subscribe to to use, but being able to buy electronic curriculum material and additional tools for the app are said to be next on the table for ClassDojo. The app has received over $30 million in capital investments and none of it has been used for advertising. Chaudhary and Don believe simple word-of-mouth marketing is sufficient to promote it and thus far they have been right.
The less money a family hauls in, the lower chances of success they’re likely to experience in life. Preston Smith realized this unfortunate disparity when teaching in San Jose, a city with tons of Hispanic families that are disadvantaged in many ways.
John Danner helped Preston Smith found Rocketship Education, focusing the nonprofit organization’s efforts on personalized education. RSED is a leader in combining regular classroom lectures with students spending time in private on subjects or problems they’re not succeeding in. Most students understand lectures, but often have trouble with particular parts of lessons that others may not. Personalized education through technological devices helps students through problems they might otherwise not get answered.
Rocketship Education’s schools have safe zones that illegal immigrants can’t be arrested in. While Mexican immigrants don’t live in high concentrations everywhere across the United States, California is one of the top destinations of people immigrating to America. Rather than punish families without documentation to live in the United States, Rocketship Education helps their families succeed by providing top-notch educations to children whose parents can’t afford or have trouble interacting with representatives from private schools without such safe zones.
Every time a new educator is hired, demographics of particular schools are tallied. Teachers that share similar demographic makeups and cultural backgrounds with students of those schools are hired in ideal situations. This causes students to feel better about being in school, rather than not being able to connect with teachers entirely unlike themselves.
RSED’s 18 locations are grades K-5. Often times, students in low-income areas have to attend lower-quality schools after they leave Rocketship Education. As such, administrators urge parents to contact local school boards in hopes of getting better schools for their children to attend from sixth grade onwards.
Teachers are required to make visits to the homes of students and their parents every year

Secretary DeVos and her husband have founded a society called Excellence in Education. Mrs. DeVos is behind Maine using the standard grade of ABCDEF to grade elements in rating the quality of schools, the same grading system that has been used to grade students achievements for decades. Betsy DeVos believes in schools vouchers. she thinks parents should be able to choose which schools their children attend instead of being stuck with schools that are in certain school boundaries. For example, the children who live over in the next block are not necessarily in the same school boundary as your child. This would be a shame if the school the children who live over in the next block attend is a better school than your child has to attend. Opening up school choice can change all this and give parents the freedom to send their children to any school they want to regardless of school boundaries. Helping parents in low-income families have school choice is especially important to DeVos. It has always been important to her that regardless of what economic class someone comes from, he should be able to have he best education available in order to achieve the highest potential.
During George W. Bush’s Presidency, he appointed Betsy DeVos a member of the board of directors for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Mrs. DeVos has already served on the committees for Art Prize. Six years ago, Mr. and Mrs. DeVos had donated $22.5 million, largest donation in the entire history of the center. According to dbdvfoundation.org, the donation was made on behalf of the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland. The Institute of Arts Management is dedicated to training future arts administrators ever since the then Kennedy Arts Director, Michael Klein, had proposed the idea to Mr. and Mrs. DeVos.
There are few Americans who have devoted more of their time to good causes than Betsy DeVos, the Michigan based philanthropist and education reformer who has become the major proponent of charter schools as part of the education system. The major work completed by Betsy DeVos in the area of education reform is a single spoke in her ever expanding wheel of philanthropic work completed by the Grand Rapids philanthropist who often works alongside her husband through the work of the Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation (dbdvfoundation.org)
Dick and Betsy DeVos have backed a wide range of philanthropic activities and campaigns through their own foundation that often reflect the beliefs of the couple, but often have a basis in the Grand Rapids, Michigan region where the couple have often sought to boost the economy and culture. One of the major programs the couple support is the annual ArtPrize that was begun in 2009 as an annual art prize. The prize is designed to attract many major artists to the Grand Rapids region and provide a way of building interest in the arts in this often culturally ignored region; ArtPrize offers an innovative approach to a community prize that sees the public vote on the artistic works as a way of driving more people to explore the arts with the aid of Betsy DeVos and husband Dick.

Having been founded in 1984 by Philip Berg and his wife Karen Berg, Kabbalah Centre has realized massive growth over the years. It was formed as a non-profit making organization aimed at offering courses in Kabbalistic learning and Zohar. Although the headquarters are in Los Angeles, the foundation has expanded to realize over fifty branches across the globe. The students who wish to undertake Kabbalah do not have to necessarily have the knowledge of Hebrew and Jewish texts. The approach to their learning is as friendly as that.
At Kabbalah it is believed that all the religions, be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism or even Buddhism are under a collective intelligence. For this reason, they do not fight any religion, rather supplement them. It is at Kabbalah Centre that you learn to primarily focus on your relationship with the essence of God as God is Himself incomprehensible.
Teachings on Specific Topics as Offered at Kabbalah Centre
Sex is a subject addressed and as explained by Yehuda Berg formerly a teacher at the Religion Centre, men should not generate semen without making love. They out rightly condemn masturbation because it is one way through which sperms fail to serve the intended purpose. Addressing astrology, there is such high regard to it, probably because it has been known to be part of Judaism in a great way. Though it was mainly opposed by the philosophers such as Maimonides, through the middle ages most Jews embraced it quite a lot.
Interesting to learn is that there is a Kabbalistic concept of Klippot. Here the argument is that everyone can directly connect to the essence of God, but Klippot bars the Spiritual energy from entering the physical. Bad behavior plays a major role in adding Klippot while studying and observing the Kabbalah and Jewish teachings removes Klippot.
Worth noting is that the Spirituality Centre has received continued patronage by the Jews. As well, it has grown so many branches in the United States of America, Asia, Middle East and Europe. Since it was founded, the Centre has been under able leadership and this has played a great role in enabling the facility stand the turbulent times.
