Sujit Choudhry is a renowned institution expert. He is a professor at the University of California in Berkeley. He also is the chairperson of the Center for Constitutional Transitions. On July 10th 2017, Sujit attended a diplomatic meeting to discuss constitutional challenges in Ukraine. He was joined by experienced, constitutional experts in a discussion that highlighted Ukraine’s presidential system.
Various diplomatic leaders attended the meeting. These Ukrainian think tanks contributed by offering insightful advice to the government. Some of these members are great participants of the Center of Policy, International Institute for Democracy, Electoral Assistance and other democratic departments. They met at Kiev, and the discussion covered Ukraine’s democracy and governance.
Sujit Choudhry said that he was honored to join the top researchers and law experts. He also said that Ukraine’s constitution needs expert’s input because of the impending challenges. Sujit added that the presidency was self-centered. It was evident that Ukraine was experiencing multiple difficulties due to several constitutional factors. Having weak political parties and poor legislation are two topmost factors that affect Ukraine’s constitution.
Choudhry was in the company of Sumit Bisarya, a contributor to International IDEA, Thomas Sidelius, a law expert from Dalarna University, Vladimir Vasilenko and Sergyi Holovatyi of the Ukraine Commission. Additional members were Viktor Musiaka of the supreme council and Ihor Koliushko of the Centre for Policies.
Sujit Choudhry has taught law in more than 24 countries. He has also served as a constitutional advisor in many countries. Sujit’s workshop in Ukraine reflects his commitment to finding viable solutions for governance in different countries. Sujit’s impact in these countries has paved the way for justice.
