Sheldon Lavin is a former financial consultant and current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of OSI Group. In addition, he is also the president of OSI Group’s subsidiary, OSI International Foods. Lavin is the General Trustee of Rush University Medical Center as well. Mr. Lavin has a long history of involvement with OSI Group.

OSI Group is a holding company that owns several meat processors and other food supplying companies. The company was founded in 1909 and is headquartered out of Aurora, Illinois.

Sheldon Lavin began his career as a financial consultant. Lavin concluded that he could assist food companies succeed in the overpopulated industry. His first major venture was with Otto and Sons, a small food company that lacked the money it needed for expansion. A year after Lavin joined, the company began to expand all across America.

“I was nervous about my abilities when I first entered the market,” Lavin confessed. “These feelings disappeared as I experienced success.” he claims. Lavin went on to explain that he relies on his knowledge and instincts to steer him in the right direction when he makes decisions. Even though he has been frightened, Lavin has been able to pull through some very difficult decisions.

An example of a tough decision paying off was when OSI Group made the purchases of Baho Food and Flagship Europe. With these purchases, Lavin intends to bring access to higher quality food to under privileged locations.

OSI Group can trace its roots all the way back to 1909. The small company became known as Otto & Sons in 1928. In 1955, Otto & Sons became the first supplier of McDonald’s. The company again changed its name in 1975 to OSI Group.
