MANILA, Philippines — Filipino mixed martial artist Lito Adiwang returned to the win column after a technical knockout victory over Mauro Mastromarini in the first round of their flyweight MMA bout at ONE Fight Night 37 in Bangkok.
Adiwang secured the victory at the 4:52 mark of the first round.
The explosive 32-year-old, who came off a unanimous decision defeat against Japan’s Keito Yamakita in February, connected on a booming left hook that sent Mastromarini to the canvas.
He then rained punches on the ground and pound, prompting the referee to call the match off, as the Argentine suffered his second straight defeat in the fighting promotion.
Adiwang saw his fight record rise to 10-4 (win-loss.)
Fellow Filipino fighter Carlo Bumina-ang, on the other hand, suffered a submission defeat at the hands of Elbek Alyshov.
Bumina-ang, who defeated Mastromarini via TKO back in April, lost via guillotine choke by Alyshov at the 3:24 mark of the second round.
The 26-year-old fighter from Azerbaijan remained unscathed in ONE with a 2-0 slate, while Bumina-ang, whose two-match win streak was snapped, slipped to a 7-2 record.
