ERROR-PLAGUED ANGELS BOW TO TAIPOWER TO OPEN AVC CAMPAIGN

MANILA, Philippines — Premier Volleyball League (PVL) champion Petro Gazz kicked off its 2025 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Champions League campaign on a tough note, succumbing to Taiwan's Taipower in a four-set loss: 15-25, 16-25, 25-19, 19-25., on Monday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Petro Gazz's lackluster start was marked by 28 errors, compared to Taiwan's 18.

Taiwan's Wan Yun Hsu led the charge with 18 points (16 attacks, 2 aces) and 14 digs.

For Petro Gazz, American import Gia Day scored 18 points, while two-time MVP Brooke Van Sickle added 13.

With a 0-1 record, Petro Gazz must now beat Hong Kong Hip Hing (0-1) to boost their chances of advancing.
