MYLA PABLO SHOWS CONSISTENCY TO HELP PETRO GAZZ SCORE 8TH STRAIGHT WIN

ANTIPOLO, Philippines — Holding an eight-game win streak, the Petro Gazz Angels look to close out the preliminary round of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference with a statement.

The Angels were on a roll after making quick work of Galeries, 25-18, 25-18, 25-22, on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

This time, it was not all about go-to hitter Filipino-American Brooke Van Sickle who steers the ship for Petro Gazz, but the presence of Pablo was also felt.

Pablo led the scoring for the Angels with 17 points against the Galeries.

"Before we start the game we always thought that we should win, but we need to work hard for it. Galeries is a tough team, and we also want to guide our young players went coach (Koji Tsuzurabara) gives them minutes, she said.

The 31-year-old spiker shared that despite the Petro Gazz's veterans leading the charge in every match, she wants the young players to have patience.

"We remind the younger players to not be down when coach gives them limited minutes. We should be the ones to guide them and boost their confidence since we were the veterans," she said.

Aside from main gunners Van Sickle and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Petro Gazz also gained help from Ranya Musa, who scored four markers, and KC Galdones' two points.

Rookie Donnalyn Peralejas also scored her first point for the first time with Petro Gazz.

"I am grateful since he gave me a chance, he always motivates me, and I am very thankful for their trust," Peralejas said.

Knowing that this is the longest tournament in PVL's history, the Japanese head tactician expressed how he wanted to maximize his players.

"It was a good performance. I want them to have a lot of chance (young players)," he said.

Petro Gazz looks to close out the preliminaries with a win against Nxled on Thursday, Feb. 20, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
