CARL TAMAYO, LG SAKERS GET BETTER OF BELANGEL-LED PEGASUS IN KBL

CARL Tamayo powered the Changwon LG Sakers to an 85-81 victory over SJ Belangel’s Daegu KOGAS Pegasus on Sunday in the Korean Basketball League at Changwon Gymnasium.

The Gilas Pilipinas forward unloaded 19 points to go with two rebounds, and one assist as the home team reasserted its mastery of the Pegasus, winning for the fourth time in five meetings this season.

This win kept the Sakers in second place in the league on a 30-18 record.

Belangel shows way

SJ Belangel led Daegu (24-25) with 17 points on 3-of-7 shooting from deep, six assists, and four boards.

This Changwon victory also enabled it to bounce back after a close 69-65 defeat to Suwon KT Sonicboom at home on Saturday where Tamayo also uncorked 18 points and six boards.

JD Cagulangan had 12 points in the win that pushed Suwon to 28-19.

KQ, Skygunners win back-to-back games 

Kevin Quiambao also helped Goyang Sono Skygunners nab back-to-back wins with an 84-59 rout of Seoul Samsung Thunders at Goyang Sono Arena on Saturday.

The back-to-back UAAP MVP contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists to push the Skygunners to a 16-31 slate.

Justin Gutang chipped in 13 points, three boards, two steals, and one assist in the losing cause for the cellar-dwelling Thunders (15-31).

Javi Gomez de Liano also had a big part in Anyang Jung Kwan Jang’s 87-84 thriller over Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus at Anyang Gymnasium on Sunday.

The former Terrafirma forward knocked down two treys for his 10 points and one rebound to stretch the Red Boosters’ win streak to four, climbing up to 21-27 overall.

Migs Oczon only had two points in the Ulsan defeat to fall to 28-20.
