KEVIN QUIAMBAO, LA SALLE TOO HOT TO HANDLE FOR ADAMSON

KEVIN Quiambao didn’t need to be the superhuman that he is on Wednesday. He just needed to be plain old KQ.

With the reigning Season and Finals MVP driving the wheel as per usual, defending champion La Salle coasted to a 82-52 domination of Adamson for its second win in as many games in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Quiambao’s exceptional play buoyed the Taft side to a blazing 20-6 first quarter start before ending with 21 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.

And didn’t take long for the rest of his peers to pick up the cudgels and break the game wide open.

Rookie Doy Dungo uncorked 15 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from distance, as in all, the Green Archers shot 16-of-36 from rainbow country.

Nigerian Henry Agunanne also churned out a 11-point, 16-rebound double-double, JC Macalalag scored all of his nine points in the first half, and Vhoris Marasigan scored eight.

It’s a perfect display on just how dominant the defending champions could be. And this is just game No. 2.

With an all-out assault this time out, the Green Archers didn't need any heroics from Quiambao like they did last Sunday to down National U.

Not only did La Salle dominate the boards, 52 to 36, it also dished out 27 assists and shot an efficient 42-percent from the field.

"We weren’t really looking at the score. We were just playing basketball," said coach Topex Robinson. "Again, we try to keep the energy that's why we pretty much use some everybody just so we have the same energy. Again, that's just who we are in what we do and again, we just try to fight our own selves."

The Falcons, for their part, were left grasping for answers that Cedrick Manzano’s 15 points and eight rebounds hardly made a difference as the boys from San Marcelino stumbled to their first defeat.
