THIS ISSUE WITH THE RIM DELAYED RAIN OR SHINE-MERALCO GAME

MONTALBAN – The uneven height of one of the basketball rims at the Ynares Center caused a delay in the second game of the PBA Philippine Cup Season 50 between Rain or Shine and Meralco on Saturday night.

Both PBA and venue personnel had to adjust the rim to its standard height just before the game scheduled at 7:30 p.m.

Apparently, Gabe Norwood and some Rain or Shine players noticed the rim was a bit lower than its official height while doing their pre-game warm up.

When re-measured, it was validated the rim was lower than the official height of 10 feet.

The game was eventually delayed for more than 30 minutes as it took time to finally have the rim fixed.

The match finished at around 10:30 p.m. as the Elasto Painters and the Bolts needed an extra five minutes to settle the outcome, 96-95, in favor of Rain or Shine.

It wasn’t known however, if the rim was already uneven in height during the first game pitting Converge against Titan Ultra. The FiberXers won, 129-92.

The PBA played the first of its two weekend schedule in the newly-built venue last Friday.
