CARLOS CREDITS MENESES, TEAMMATES FOR HER THIRD MVP AWARD

Not even a switch from her usual Opposite Spiker position to being the team's Outside Spiker stopped Tots Carlos from playing superbly in the tournament as she bagged the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference Most Valuable Player award, the third in her PVL career.

Speaking to the media after Game 3 of the Finals between her Creamline Cool Smashers and the Petro Gazz Angels on March 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Tots Carlos credited coach Sherwin Meneses for his trust in her despite the change in her playing position.

Meneses decided to have Carlos play the Outside Spiker position due to the unavailability of injured superstar Alyssa Valdez, who continues to recover from the knee injury she sustained last December.

Valdez was Creamline's go-to Outside Spiker.

The coach's decision bore fruit as Carlos went on to win the MVP award and lead Creamline to its second straight all-Filipino title.

"I can't believe it [me winning the MVP award despite me switching positions]. I think coach gave me a huge trust when it comes to me playing a new position," said 24-year-old Carlos, who scored 16 points in Game 3 of the Finals.

"His trust is such a huge factor for me because coach knows that I can fulfill what the position requires."

Carlos, also the conference's Best Outside Spiker, recognized and lauded to the whole Creamline team for having her back.

"As I've always said, the MVP, we're not focused on individual awards. We're always focused on the team goal. I'm really grateful for my teammates' unwavering support. If it's not for the people around me, I would have not gotten the award," she said.
