MANILA, Philippines — The Cignal HD Spikers outplayed the Petro Gazz Angels, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22, to remain unscathed in four games in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Thursday, August 1. Cignal's 4-0 mark is the team's best start since the 2022 Invitational Conference. The HD Spikers played meticulously as they made only six errors in the entire match, the fewest committed by a team in the professional league. "I was shocked with the number of our errors, but we worked hard for this. You can see the focus and our mindset in each of our games, and I am happy with the result," Cignal head coach Shaq Delos Santos said.
The Delos Santos-mentored squad only made one error in the first set, two errors in the second set and three errors in the third set. Venezuelan player MJ Perez was the sole double-digit scorer for Cignal with 20 points on 16 attacks, three blocks, and an ace. Petro Gazz's Brooke Van Sickle tried to lift her squad with her 28-point effort but it was not enough to make up for the 21 errors the team committed. Cignal will next face the Akari Chargers on Tuesday, August 6, at 1 p.m., at the same venue.
