Liverpool have spent €70 million on Jacquet, giving Rennes a record-breaking windfall. The player becomes the most expensive transfer in the Breton club’s history.
Liverpool FC pulled off a major move in the final hours of the transfer window, officially confirming the signing of young defender Jérémy Jacquet from Stade Rennais. The total fee for the deal is reported to be €70 million.
The 20-year-old has already reached an agreement with the English club on a long-term contract. A special clause in the deal states that Jacquet will finish the current Ligue 1 season before joining Anfield in the summer of 2026, subject to a work permit and final administrative approvals.
For Rennes, this is a historic sale, as the club has never transferred a prospect for such a high amount. For Liverpool, who have struggled defensively this season, it represents a massive gamble on the future. Raw talent, huge potential for growth, and heavy expectations: Jacquet arrives with a golden label already attached.
