JETS' KRIS BOYD SURPRISES TEAMMATES WEEKS AFTER BEING SHOT IN MANHATTAN

Kris Boyd, the New York Jets cornerback still recovering from the gunshot wound he suffered in Manhattan last month, surprised teammates at the practice facility in Florham Park, New Jersey on Wednesday.

Days ahead of the team's Week 14 matchup with the Miami Dolphins, Boyd sat in on a special teams meeting before palling around with coaches and teammates, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

'It was awesome to see him,' tight end Jeremy Ruckert told ESPN. 'It's not something that we at all thought or knew was going to happen today, so it was a good surprise to see him with such high hopes and positive energy.

'It was cool, a good moment for us to get back around him and for him to be around us.'

Defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, who'd previously teamed with Boyd in Minnesota back in 2022, said 'every single person that walked by gave him a dap up, a high five or a semi-hug.'

Edge rusher Jermaine Johnson told ESPN of his own dark history with firearms and how much it meant to see Boyd walking around the facility Wednesday.

'I've had friends that didn't survive gunshot wounds, so to be able to see him walking around with a smile on his face, be able to [talk] with him, I mean, it's always a blessing,' Johnson said. '[Guns] aren't toys and they're very deadly, so the fact that he walked away from it is a blessing.'

Johnson didn't actually recognize Boyd at first, instead noticing someone 'limping around' before realizing it was his injured teammate.

Boyd was shot in the abdomen on November 16 outside a Manhattan restaurant. As previously revealed by the New York Police Department, the bullet lodged in his pulmonary artery, requiring multiple procedures before he could breathe on his own.

Since then, he returned to the hospital to deal with what he described on social media as mental health issues.

'Please bare with me, I haven't been in communication much,' Boyd wrote online. 'I was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues. I love and appreciate everyone of yall dearly who has prayed/reached out even if I can't get back to you.

'Head HIGH, God is not through with me yet!'

Boyd was already out for the season with a shoulder injury when he was shot, reportedly after exchanging words with another group of people.

Police have yet to make an arrest in the case, but NYPD has released security footage of the man believed to have fired the shot that struck Boyd.

'It was reported to police that on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at approximately 0206 hours, in front of 156 West 38 Street, an unidentified individual discharged a firearm, striking a 29-year-old male victim in the abdomen,' read the initial police statement.

'EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in critical but stable condition. The unidentified individual fled the location on foot, traveling eastbound on West 38 Street to parts unknown.

'The sought individual is described as male, medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers, and carrying a black bookbag.'
