Free agent running back Nick Chubb is set to sign with the Houston Texans pending the results of a physical on Monday, according to reports.
Chubb has spent the last seven seasons - the entirety of his NFL career - with the Cleveland Browns, but his 2024 campaign ended prematurely due to a broken foot.
He had been languishing on the market since his contract expired in March but has now found his next landing spot, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
The 29-year-old will head to Houston to undergo medical tests before signing a new deal in the AFC South.
A former backup to future NFL star Todd Gurley at Georgia, Chubb was a second-round pick of the Browns in 2018 before going on to earn four Pro Bowl nods while averaging an impressive 5.1 yards per carry.
Despite his success, Chubb's broken foot in Week 15 came at the worst moment, given his expiring contract.
Since then, the Browns added bruising Ohio State back Quinshon Judkins in the second round of April's Draft and now the former Buckeye will compete with fourth-year player Jerome Ford for the starting job.
