TEAM KOREA’S RISING EAGLES DEFEAT TEAM PHILIPPINES’ KUYS SHOWTIME IN ‘SHOOT OF ASIA’ EXHIBITION GAME

Team Rising Eagles from South Korea defeated the Team Kuys Showtime from the Philippines in a special basketball exhibition game titled ‘Shoot of Asia’ last October 26 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Presented by local clothing brand Bench, the exciting and intense game ended with a 72-63 score.

The Rising Eagles dominated the first half of the game, building a huge point advantage in the first quarter, and closing the second with 39-35. Team Kuys Showtime made some runs to cut the lead in the second half, which ignited the tension and excitement among fans. 

Despite their efforts, they failed to make a comeback as the Rising Eagles maintained their lead throughout the game.

Team Korea featured popular stars such as Johnny of NCT, Minho of SHINee, actor Eun Seok from ‘The Penthouse,’ 2AM’s Jeong Jin-woon, Moon Su-in, Kim Taek, Dae Hee, Seung Hoon, Chan Woong, Kyu Min, and Tae Jin.

Former national basketball player and ‘Knowing Bros’ host Seo Jang Hoon served as head coach, with Jeon Tae-poong as an assistant coach.

Team Philippines showcased local celebrities including Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Billy Crawford, Ronnie Alonte, JC De Vera, David Licauco, Wendell Ramos, Dustin Yu, River Joseph, Ion Perez, Baileys Acot, Johannes Rissler, Arthur Nery, and Adie Garcia are all part of the line up.

Beaujing Acot led the team as head coach with Julius Teruel and Baffy Acot as assistant coaches.

Rising Eagles’ Seung Hoon, Moon Su-in, and Jeong Jin-woon, as well as Kuys Showtime’s David Licauco, and Johannes Rissler were hailed as the Mythical Five of the exhibition game. Additionally, Su-in was also awarded as the Most Valuable Player.

In an interview, team captain Vhong Navarro expressed that they already felt like winners when they were chosen to represent the Philippines against the Korean celebrities. The team admitted they were surprised by the Rising Eagles’ intensity but enjoyed the experience nonetheless. 

The event showcased performances from P-pop boy group Hori7on and K-pop girl group Billlie. Pambansang “Krung-krung” and 2NE1 member Sandara Park also performed her hits such as ‘In or Out’ and ‘I Am the Best.’

The exhibition game is part of SBS Korea’s upcoming sports-reality series following the Rising Eagles as they train, bond, and compete both on and off the court. Their match against the Filipino team will be part of its “country-vs-country exhibition against local celebrities.”
