WINNERS ANNOUNCED IN PWC GAA ALLSTARS IN GLITTERING CEREMONY AT DUBLIN’S RDS

It was a night of glitter, glory, and Gaelic greatness at the 2025 PwC All-Star Awards in the RDS, as Kerry’s David Clifford and Tipperary’s John McGrath claimed the top individual honours.

Clifford was once again the star of the show, named Footballer of the Year after another electric season with the Kingdom.

He held off team-mate Joe O’Connor and Donegal legend Michael Murphy to take the prize, and in doing so, made history as the first-ever player to win the award three times (after previous wins in 2022 and 2023). Only Brian Fenton (Dublin) and Trevor Giles (Meath) have managed to do it twice before.

Under the old Texaco awards, Kerry’s Jack O’Shea still holds the all-time record with four.

On the hurling side, Tipperary’s John McGrath was crowned Hurler of the Year, keeping the award in Munster for the eighth straight season. McGrath edged out team-mate Jake Morris and Cork’s Brian Hayes to become Tipp’s first winner since Séamus Callanan in 2019, and only the fourth Premier County player ever to claim the title, joining Lar Corbett (2010) and Tommy Dunne (2001).

There was more joy for Tipperary as Darragh McCarthy scooped Young Hurler of the Year, beating team-mate Robert Doyle and Limerick’s Adam English. McCarthy’s win capped off a dream double for Liam Cahill’s All-Ireland champions, who also placed seven players on the All-Star team.

In football, Donegal’s Finnbarr Roarty gave his county something to cheer about after their final defeat, winning Young Footballer of the Year ahead of Armagh’s Oisín Conaty (last year’s winner) and Galway’s Matthew Thompson. Both Roarty and Conaty were also named on the All-Star team.

From Clifford’s record-breaking hat-trick to McGrath’s Munster magic, the 2025 PwC All-Stars delivered a night worthy of champions.
