ANDY MURRAY WITHDRAWS FROM WIMBLEDON SINGLES

LONDON — Andy Murray has withdrawn from the men's singles at Wimbledon but has committed to competing in doubles with his brother Jamie, according to a statement from his management team on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old two-time former champion, who was due to face Czech player Tomas Machac on the second day of the tournament, has taken the "very difficult decision" to pull out after failing to recover from back surgery. AFP
