MANILA, Philippines — Bernadeth Pons made a double-double performance to propel Creamline to its 17th straight semifinal appearance in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
Pons led the scoring with 18 points, along with 15 excellent receptions to allow Creamline sweep the series against Chery Tiggo, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22, last Saturday, in Game 2 of the PVL 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference.
The 2024 Reinforced Conference Most Valuable Player (MVP) shared that the consistency of Creamline in winning is all due to coach Sherwin Meneses' system.
"His system is different, compared to the other teams that I played with before. His system is there, everything is there. The team is intact, and of course the work ethic of each one of us. That's why I told myself, this is the reason why they are the champions," she told the press after the game.
The former Far Eastern University stalwart also added that she kept her focus in facing Chery Tiggo as their foe is pushing for a Game 3.
"At first coach also reminded us that Chery has nothing to lose, and they will play really well, and we can't be complacent. They worked really hard on every point and we are just grateful that we took the game today," she added.
Now heading to the semifinals, Pons wants to continuously deliver for her squad.
"Again, we can't be complacent, even if we had time to rest. Even in our training, we push ourselves to be better, and Alyssa Valdez and Michele Gumabao also remind us everyday [to work hard]."
During the 2024 Reinforced Conference, Creamline emerged as champions despite the absence of key players Alyssa Valdez and Tots Carlos, who were sidelined due to their minor injuries, while Jema Galanza had to serve her Alas Pilipinas duties.
Pons stepped up and stirred the ship to another trophy.
