BIADO CLIMBS TO NO. 1 SPOT IN MONEY MAKER LIST

(UPDATE) CARLO Biado made history as the first Filipino cue artist to seize two world 9-ball titles after conquering the World Pool Championship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last week.The 41-year-old made a lot of money, too.

Dethroning Russian-American Fedor Gorst with a 15-13 final win, Biado pocketed a prize money of $250,000, or more than P14.2 million.

That windfall of money catapulted him to the top spot of the latest AZ billiards moneymaker list with a total of $259,750 or close to P14.9 million.

Gorst, who bagged $100,000 as runner-up to Biado, followed the Philippine player on the list with a sum of $174,600.

German Joshua Filler ranked third with $157,740 while American Shane Van Boening placed fourth with $91,700.

Albanian Kledio Kaci is fifth with $80,050; Aloysius Yapp is sixth with $61,500; and another Philippine player in Roberto Gomez is seventh with $58,375.

Estonian Denis Grabe is eighth with 57,575, Lithuanian Pijus Labutis is ninth with $55,950 and Austrian Jasmin Ouschan rounded out the top 10 with $55,490.

Biado is headed to the United States for more pool action and potentially pad his total earnings at the Florida and US Open.

The inaugural Florida Open is set from Aug. 5 to 10 at the luxurious Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

It offers a $200,000 prize fund including $40,000 or more than P2.2 million for the champion.

Meanwhile, the US Open is slated from Aug. 18 to 23 at the Harrah’s Resort, Atlantic City, in New Jersey.

The tournament sports a $500,000 prize fund with the winner bagging $100,000 or P5.7 million.
