(UPDATE) BANGKOK — Justin Kobe Macario delivered the country’s first gold medal in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games after ruling the men’s poomsae freestyle individual on Wednesday morning at the Island Hall.
Displaying a sleek and sharp routine, and capped by a spectacular kick double spin, Macario topped the field with 8.200 points.
Macario beat Koedkaew Atchariya of host Thailand (8.100), with Ken Haw Chin of Malaysia finishing third (7.740).
Meanwhile, John Derick Farr seized a bronze medal in the men’s downhill mountain bike event at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi.
Farr timed 2:43.67 to finish third in the five-man race.
Methasit Boonsane of Thailand snared the gold medal with a time of 2:37.85, while Rendy Varera Sanjaya notched the silver with 2:38.71.
