WRIGHT JOINS NEW B.LEAGUE TEAM KAWASAKI BRAVE THUNDERS

MANILA, Philippines — Sweet-shooting Matthew Wright found a new home after signing up with the Kawasaki Brave Thunders in time for the Japan B.League's 2024-25 season.

The 33-year-old Filipino-Canadian sharpshooter's transfer to his new team was announced by the Brave Thunders in their Instagram account.

Wright played the past two B.League seasons with the Koyoto Hannaryz.

In the 2023-24 season, Wright averaged 13.1 points, made 34.4 percent from three-point range, while norming 3.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Hannaryz though had a mediocre season after posting a mere 17-43 win-loss record.

Before moving to Japan, Wright already earned a solid reputation as a three-point specialist.

The former St. Bonaventure standout spent his first six seasons as a pro with the Phoenix Fuel Masters in the PBA.

Prior to that, Wright played for the Westports Malaysia Dragons, helping the team win the Asean Basketball League title in 2016, while being named the ABL ASEAN Heritage Import Most Valuable Player.
