BLACKWATER GETS FRESH BLOOD AS KWEKUTEYE, CONCEPCION COME IN

BLACKWATER will be reinforced with rookies in the coming days at the conclusion of the MPBL season.

James Kwekuteye has signed a two-year deal with the Bossing, according to team governor Silliman Sy, months after they drafted the former San Beda cager in the second round (20th overall) last September.

Meanwhile, Blackwater’s fourth-round pick and No. 37 overall Archie Concepcion is also expected to sign with the Bossing soon as he had already agreed in principle to join the ballclub.

Both players were recently part of the MPBL national finals won by Pampanga, where Concepcion was a vital part of the Giant Lanterns' championship run.

The Bacoor Strikers finished second to the Giant Lanterns in the finals with Kwekuteye also in charge in the team.

The new players will not yet play on Wednesday game against Magnolia as Blackwater didn’t submit a line-up change on the eve of the contest.

Meanwhile, Blackwater still has another rookie to sign in Clifford Jopia but he is still in the middle of the NCAA season where his team San Beda will be playing Mapua in the championship series starting on Wednesday.

Jopia was selected in the third round at No. 26 by Blackwater.

So far, only No. 2 pick Christian David has played for the Bossing this conference.

The Bossing own a 1-5 win-loss record and are on a five-game losing skid when they face league-leading, unbeaten squad Magnolia Chicken Timplados (5-0) on Wednesday.
