DON TROLLANO RESCUES SAN MIGUEL IN THE FACE OF MAGNOLIA COMEBACK

MONTALBAN, Rizal - Don Trollano made a heroic return from injury, nailing a crucial go-ahead four-pointer as San Miguel beat Magnolia, 94-92, on Friday in the PBA 50th Season Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center II.

Trollano drained a four-point shot with 53.2 seconds remaining to give San Miguel back the lead at 91-88 lead after the Hotshots wiped out what once stood as an 18-point lead and almost denied the Beermen a fourth straight win.

Trollano, who missed the Beermen's previous game due to back injury, scored 29 points as the Beermen dealt Magnolia only its second loss in six outings since LA Tenorio took over as head coach.

Prior to the four-pointer, Trollano also made a three-point play, a follow-up shot with 1:28 left in the contest to slice the gap to one, 88-87.

Magnolia had numerous chances to erase Trollano’s basket including a four-point shot by Paul Lee that just rimmed out. Jerom Lastimosa also took a desperate shot at a four in the final possession, but misfired.

San Miguel's lead reached as a high as 39-21, but margin disappeared in the second half where it was outscored by Magnolia, 52-33. The Beermen were even trailing, 70-69, at the end of the third quarter.
