GILAS GIRLS CRUSH LEBANON, SEALS PLACE IN FIBA U18 ASIAN CUP SEMIS

GILAS Pilipinas Girls clinched a spot in the semifinals of the FIBA Under-18 Women’s Asian Cup Division B in Shenzhen, China after beating Lebanon, 89-63, on Tuesday.

The Nationals all but sealed a place in the semifinals with their 2-0 win-loss record in Group B after a fitting follow-up to their 123-point victory over Maldives on Monday.

The Philippine side, coached by Julie Amos, is also assured of a win in its final group stage match against Syria on Wednesday by forfeiture since the latter did not show up for the tournament.

Naomi Panganiban had 25 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and four steals, while Gabby Ramos dominated inside with 12 points and 19 rebound for Gilas.

Tifanny Reyes also showed her range late by scoring 12 points, all from three-point range in the game where Gilas led by as many as 29.

The Philippines will next face the winner of the qualification match between the second-seed in Group A and the third-placer in Group B.
