ANTIPOLO - Jayson Castro appears to be nearing a return after a major injury last year.
The 39-year-old Castro on Wednesday joined the TNT Tropang 5G in their warm-ups hours before Game One of the PBA 50th Season Philippine Cup Finals against San Miguel at the Ynares Center.
Castro, however, isn't on the TNT playoff roster and therefore cannot be playing in the finals. But the mere fact the 'Blue' is warming up is a sign that his return appears to be imminent.
Castro sustained a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee last March in the 49th Season Commissioner's Cup semifinals against Rain or Shine.
The injury came just after Castro won the Finals MVP in the 49th Season Governors' Cup when TNT beat Barangay Ginebra for the championship.
