RJ, Shinshu part ways

The wily, 24-year-old guard disclosed he has been released by his Japan B.League ball club Shinshu Brave Warriors in what he described as a mutual agreement between both parties.

Abarrientos signed a two-year deal with the Brave Warriors, with a player option for the second year.

Previous to his B. League stint, he suited up for the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the Korean Basketball League after a brief stay with FEU.

In his lone season in the KBL, he was named Rookie of the Year after submitting numbers of 13.6 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.9 rebounds.

Abarrientos also didn't finish his two-year contract with Hyundai and instead, chose to take his act in Japan.

His application came on the final day for prospective rookies to join the draft.
