CALVIN ABUEVA HURTS RIGHT KNEE, SITS OUT GAME VS. MERALCO

INJURIES are haunting Magnolia once again as Calvin Abueva sits out Sunday’s PBA Philippine Cup match against Meralco.

Head coach Chito Victolero said Abueva has soreness in his right knee, keeping him out even at the venue.

An MRI was conducted on Abueva’s knee on Saturday with the result expected to be determined early in the coming week.

"Masakit din ang right knee niya," said Victolero.

The Hotshots were already dealing with the absence of Jio Jalalon, who was recently relegated to the injured/reserve list due to a meniscus injury in his left knee.

With Jalalon and Abueva out, Magnolia scored the fewest points in franchise history on Sunday when the Hotshots lost to Meralco, 74-51, on Sunday.

Jalalon and Abueva are scoring 8.3 and 6.9 points respectively for the conference, numbers that would have been a boost for Magnolia’s duel against Meralco.

The Chicken Timplados Hotshots had player injuries throughout the conference with Rome Dela Rosa and Aris Dionisio missing games in the early part of their campaign.
