FULLER DOUBLE-DOUBLE LIFTS RAIN OR SHINE PAST PHOENIX IN DAVAO

RAIN or Shine stepped closer to a finals spot in the 39th Kadayawan Invitational Basketball Tournament with a 104-102 win over Phoenix on Friday at the University of Southeastern Philippines Gym in Davao City.

The Elasto Painters turned to Aaron Fuller in the paint and the import responded with a double double of  21 points and 19 rebounds in a more convincing performance than their 106-105 win over La Salle the day before. 

Gian Mamuyac added 19 points, while Anton Asistio had 17 points for Rain or Shine, which improved to 2-0 (win-loss) heading to their match Converge on Saturday to cap the elimination round.

A Fuller basket inside enabled Rain or Shine to grab a 102-94 lead.

Beau Belga added nine points and seven rebounds, as Andrei Caracut made eight points and three assists for the Elasto Painters.

Tyler Tio had 19 points and three steals while Kent Salado finished with 15 points and seven assists, based from the statistics provided by venue broadcast commentator Rey Andrew Alonsagay to SPIN.ph.

Javee Mocon had another steady game for Phoenix with 13 points, while Larry Muyang displayed his improved outside shooting by making three treys on his way to finishing with 11 points.

Phoenix import Jay McKinnis had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
