PHOTO: YANKEES' NEW ROAD UNIFORM WILL TAKE SOME GETTING USED TO

For the first time in 51 years, the New York Yankees have made a change to their road jerseys.

It's not a drastic one; we can't imagine the Yankees ever really doing anything wild with their traditional unis. But the franchise is going back to the style it wore during the days of Mantle, Berra and Maris.

The Yankees got rid of the white trim around their numbers and lettering, which they first introduced in 1973. Instead, they're working with "New York" written in plain navy blue, and the same look for the digits on the back.

"It’s going to take awhile for me to get used to these. Yanks were solid blue during the days of flannels, but definitely looks different on today’s material," said the Goat Jerseys X/Twitter account.

The Yankees wore similar jerseys during the "Field of Dreams" game against the Chicago White Sox in August 2021.

For comparison to what their uniforms had looked like for the previous five decades, check out the photo below.

It will definitely take some getting used to these, but overall, they look clean.

The Yankee fan base is most concerned with how the team plays in its new outfits. Coming off an 82-80 season, the organization's worst since 1992, there is ample pressure on the Bronx Bombers to have a bounce back campaign.
