PBA: JASON PERKINS SNEAKER SWITCH BRIEFLY GIVES PHOENIX GOOD LUCK

MANILA, Philippines—Call him superstitious but Phoenix forward Jason Perkins opted to wear a different sneaker on Friday in hopes of changing the Fuel Masters fortunes in the PBA Philippine Cup.

And somehow, switching to the Nike Sabrina 1s–a pair he usually wears in practice–worked wonders after Phoenix picked up just its second win of the conference following a 113-107 victory over Converge.

“I usually wear them in practice and the Anthony Edwards’ (AE 1) in-game sometimes. We’ve been losing so I had to change it up a bit,” said Perkins.

“I got a pair of grey ones, too. They’re comfy. They’re the closest thing to Kobes to me and I’m cheap. I don’t want to buy Kobes, they’re too expensive right now,” he added in jest, referring to the high resale value of Kobe Bryant’s sneakers.

Perkins had himself a game too with 26 points and 13 rebounds after coming off an 11-point effort in a loss to Magnolia.

Call it a coincidence or whatever but the former La Salle star ditched the Sabrina 1s two days later to go back to his usual pair of AE 1s and Phoenix lost to Magnolia, 107-93.

Perkins may want to switch back to the Sabrina 1s again for some good luck when the Fuel Masters play the NLEX Road Warriors on Saturday.
