GORAYEB TRUSTS THE PROCESS AFTER CAPITAL 1'S DISMAL FINISH

MANILA, Philippines: Capital 1 head coach Roger Gorayeb sees the silver lining in his squad's 1-10 win-loss finish in their first Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference.

Gorayeb revealed that the Solar Spikers struggled, but he hopes that coming to the next PVL meet Capital 1 will improve.

"Of course, we struggled. As a coach, given the situation that we were only three months together as a team, it was really difficult. However, the way we played in our very first match was really slow. Maybe, little by little we will improve. I wanted to win, we won one game, so hopefully all of us can improve," Gorayeb told the press.

The Solar Spikers had a lackluster opening game in the conference after a 6-25, 15-25, 15-25 loss against Chery Tiggo, then closed their conference with a 19-25, 17-25, 20-25 loss against Cignal.

Capital 1's sole win in the 2024 PVL AFC is through a four set match against the winless Strong Group Athletics, 25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 25-20.

The veteran coach noted that one of the reasons why Solar Spikers struggled was due to their unfamiliarity with one another.

"We were just in for two weeks, then the league already started. By face, they know each other, but they don't know each other's name." Gorayeb said while laughing. "Everybody came from a different place, but some of them know each other."

Gorayeb also shared that in the next conference, the Solar Spikers will come back stronger.

"Inch by inch we are getting there, that is the most important thing. I cannot accept this type of game in the next conference, they should be smarter."

"They will learn, and we will come back as a different team since we will have enough time for preparation."

For his current lineup, Gorayeb said that the management will still assess who will stay and who will be out for the next conference.

"If we have the same players, we will have the same results. There are 20 in the team. They will rest during break then after that, we will assess them." he said.
