HD SPIKERS COMPLETE PVL FINAL FOUR CAST

(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines: CIGNAL kept Gerflor winless and completed the 2023 PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference semifinal cast with a 25-22, 25-11, 25-10 win at the PhilSports Arena on Tuesday, December 5.Gel Cayuna dished out 16 excellent sets and notched five points to lead the HD Spikers, who engaged the Defenders in a tight first set before pulling away in the last two.

Cignal improved to 8-3 with 25 points, getting that last semis berth and eliminated PLDT and Petro Gazz in the process.

Both 6-4 with 19 points each, the High Speed Hitters and the Angels are scheduled to play at 6 p.m.

The chance for either of them to sneak in and take the last semis spot would have been still open had Cignal lost to Gerflor in 3 or 4 sets, allowing either of them to break the tie in points ratio.

But with the HD Spikers' three sets win, they completed the semis cast and even took the third spot, unseating Chery Tiggo.

Both teams are 8-3 but Cignal broke the tie, sporting higher points than Chery Tiggo, 25 to 22.

Meanwhile, Cignal faces a familiar and formidable foe in a fitting start to what promises to be a slam-bang semifinal round of the Spikers' Turf Invitational Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila today.

The HD Spikers step up their drive for a sweep of the season's two titles, mixing it up with the Sta. Elena Nationals in the 3:30 p.m. duel of power, style and class, kicking off the five-playdate round robin semis that will also feature Japanese guest team Maruichi Hyogo.
