PLDT GUNS FOR SHARE OF PVL LEAD

PLDT guns for a share of the lead when it takes on Chery Tiggo in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference at 6 p.m. today, April 16, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The High Speed Hitters (7-1) are currently in third place behind the Choco Mucho Flying Titans (8-1) and the Creamline Cool Smashers (7-2).

The Crossovers, on the other hand, are not far behind with a 6-2 record, tied with the Petro Gazz Angels.

PLDT coach Rald Ricafort utilized his second stringers during their 25-12, 25-21, 25-17 win against Strong Group Athletics (SGA) last Tuesday, April 9, to give sufficient rest to the starters who are expected to go all-out against Chery Tiggo.

New recruit Kiesha Bedonia stepped up for PLDT as she scored 16 points against SGA.

Ricafort admitted that their next three games are tough and will determine whether PLDT can make it to the next round."Nearing the end of the eliminations, the remaining three [games] are tough. Our current 7-1 standing is somehow deceitful since we have not faced the top teams yet. The last three games will be very crucial," Ricafort told the press.

PLDT's last two assignments in the elims are against Cignal (5-3) and Creamline.

Chery Tiggo, meanwhile, is aiming for its fifth straight victory and a win on Tuesday would send the Crossovers to a tie for second place with Creamline.

In the opening game, Petro Gazz and Cignal collide at 4 p.m.
