POGOY SHOWS UP AT GILAS TRAINING CAMP

MANILA, Philippines — TNT veteran gunner Roger Pogoy joined Gilas Pilipinas' training camp at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna over the weekend.

Former PBA legendary import Sean Chambers posted a photo with Pogoy at his Facebook account on Saturday where Gilas is holed up at the sports facility in Calamba.

"FEU Tamaraws representing for Gilas ," Chambers wrote at his Facebook account.

The 59-year-old Chambers recently accepted the head coaching job with FEU.

There's no clarity though at the moment on whether Pogoy will be part of the Gilas side, which started the training camp without ace playmaker Scottie Thompson due to a back injury.

Pogoy was not part of the original 14-man roster of coach Tim Cone.

Cone, however is expected to make an announcement on the team's next move after Thompson has been struck out from roster as Gilas is now preparing for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Pogoy last saw action for Gilas during last year's FIBA World Cup in Manila, but had to be dropped out of the roster in the Asian Games after being diagnosed with myocarditis.

The 32-year-old Pogoy eventually got cleared by doctors to return to action last January.

Pogoy is back at his old, deadly form after averaging 20.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists while making 38 percent of his shots from three-point zone in TNT's PBA Philippine Cup campaign.
