CAITLIN CLARK RESPONDS TO CRITICISM AFTER LOSS

The Indiana Fever suffered a disappointing loss against the Chicago Sky on Sunday afternoon in a game where the team struggled to score down the stretch. As the Fever offense struggled to find points, rookie sensation Caitlin Clark seemed to stop shooting. And she explained that decision after the game.

During her postgame press conference, Caitlin Clark was asked to explain why she did not take more shots down the stretch and she made it clear that she simply trusted her teammates to score in those crucial moments.

“I’m sure there was an opportunity or two for me to probably attempt another shot there at the end but I trust my teammates,” Clark said after the game according to The Spun.

Clark points out that she did finish the game with 13 assists – a new franchise record for the Fever – so clearly, her passing was working on Sunday.

“Obviously 13 assists — my teammates scored off of 13 of my passes — that’s a really great number,” Clark said regarding her decision not to shoot as much. “So I’m going to give them the ball every time and give them an opportunity to score [because] I believe in them.”

Clearly, Clark’s passing was leading to points. But perhaps a few more shots could have sparked the team’s offense a little more down the stretch.
