PBA MAKES REVISION TO ALL-STAR VOTING PROCESS IN BID TO LESSEN 'SNUBS'

THE PBA has made a slight revision to the selection process for the All-Star Bacolod 2024 in a move that could lessen the ‘snubs’ during the midseason showcase.

An additional four players bring the total number of All-Star Game participants to 28, but they will be voted in by the PBA coaches and the media.

Fans will still be voting in a big chunk of the participants, with the top 24 gaining a spot and the first two vote-getters taking on the role of captain and given the honor of drafting their respective teams.

The new mechanics hopes to give lesser-known but impact players a chance to make it to the All-Star Game.

Last year in Passi, Iloilo when the All-Star players were purely determined through fan voting, some felt players like Juami Tiongson of Terrafirma, Don Trollano of NLEX, and Maverick Ahanmisi, then of Converge, deserved the nods but were not voted in.

Meanwhile, PBA coaches will still be voted by the fans with the top two making it.

RSJ voting process stands

The Rookies-Sophomores-Juniors game will still be exclusively determined through fan balloting.

The voting began on Sunday, and fans can cast their votes online on the league’s official website or at the playing venue until February 7.
